Alice Springs Workshops 2012
King Marong is a master percussionist and cultural ambassador from The Gambia West Africa. King is an experienced childrens workshop facilitator, entertainer and and cultural ambassador. He has been based in Australia for the past 15 years performing and teaching drum, dance and cultural education at schools, festivals, universities and corporate and community events both in Australia and abroad. He is highly sought after as both a workshop facilitator and performer and is currently completing a diploma in Community Cultural Development at Victorian College of the Arts. King has previously spent time in Alice Springs working with Pete Lowsen and the Tangentyere Drum Atweme children to produce an interactive theatrical piece that was performed at last years Alice Desert Festival.
Last year King performed at WOMADelaide with his band Afro Mandinko and ran a number of interactive drum and workshops which were a hit amongst festival goers young and old alike.
King returns to Alice Springs in May and is running a series of drum and dance workshops at the Red Hot Arts workshop space (67 Bath St) which are open to all ages and abilities.
