Gigs and Tours

Since 2002 King has been involved & featured in an array of festivals, ceremonies, community and corporate events and functions both in Melbourne, interstate and internationally.  He has worked extensively in primary and secondary schools teaching and performing.

Work with such organisations as Drum Cafe , Big Batucada, Multicultural Arts Victoria and The Boite World Music Caf  have meant many opportunities to perform at major events and spectacular locations including the Melbourne Concert Hall & Melbourne Deaflympics.

Safara is an acoustic, percussion-based representation of the many traditional songs and dances performed for local Senegambian ceremonies. Featuring bright traditional costume, Safara incorporates vocals, djembe, doun doun, sabar (style of drumming unique to Senegambia) and kora in a spiritually inspiring repertoire of dynamic tribal rhythms and visually stunning dance routines specific to Senegal and The Gambia.

Sat 17 December @ 9pm, The Evelyn Hotel (351 Brunswick St Fitzroy)

King Marong and Afro Mandinko will be firing the night away with high energy grooves and funky afro moves inspired Afrobeat explosion! Fronted by Gambian Master Percussionist King Marong. Also featuring world renowned rhythmic didgeridoo virtuoso and world electronic fusion producer and band leader Ganga Giri. Mr Fish will be opening the night away getting the audience ready for some high energy grooves from King Marong and Afro Mandinko and Ganga Giri.
